Thanks for hopping over from The Tales of an M.E. Mummy and welcome to my post for the Third Day of Christmas of #12daysofparenting. We have many prizes to give away and you can enter at the bottom of this post.
Before Oliver I was a bit of a Scrooge – in fact I wrote about it last year as a guest post for Mummy Vs Daddy. As Oliver has gotten a whole year older I’ve been thinking about how much it has changed me even more – this year I have been thinking about Christmas for the whole year, literally since Boxing Day! A lot has changed since then – we have a house, Oliver understands more than ever before, R and I are engaged and I’m taking blogging more seriously.
All of the above factors have meant that I have turned in to one of ‘those’ people who is very excited about Christmas coming – this will be our first year doing ‘Santa’ properly with a visit to see the man himself that he now understands, a real Christmas tree, proper decorations and starting the journey towards having a ‘pinnable‘ festive house, with festive crafts and a stunning Christmas Cake, just like a ‘proper blogger’. Before Oliver I would be waiting on a rota to find out if I was working Christmas, New Year or both in my anti social hospitality job while listening to cheesy Christmas songs on repeat for the 50th time that day. That alone makes me so thankful that I gave up work to be a stay-at-home-mum.
Christmas is such a special time and being able to just spend that time with Oliver and the family makes me beyond happy – a far cry from a few years ago where I opted to work Christmas to save me from the hell of having to endure a boring day where I couldn’t really do anything that I wanted to because all of my friends were spending time with their families.
Has becoming a parent changed the festive season for you? Were you a Scrooge like me?
