I was tagged by Becky at Little O and Me to do the A to Z of me, as soon as I got the tag I was like, “great! This is going to be really fun!” And then I filled up the usual suspects in the alphabet and was left with the toughies and it really made me think about myself and what parts of me I can write about.
A is for Aussie soaps, as in Neighbours and Home & Away! I don’t watch British soaps and don’t watch a great deal of (grown up) TV but I have these two on Series Link!! I think I like the fact it’s always sunny!
B is for boobies – I’ve always been obsessed with them, they’re usually too small, unless I’m breastfeeding, then they’re melons! They probably get more of an outing when I’m not breastfeeding too!
C is for cats – I love them! I bonded with my (late) Grandmother-in-law the first time I met her because of our mutual love of cats. She even bullied R in to promising we would get one when we have our own house (he promises me we can have one next year!)
D is for depression – even though it only consumed such a tiny part of my life, it will always be a part of me.
E is for being an ethical consumer. I’ve always been pretty aware of ethical issues and the environment – it was always my section in any group work we did at uni, but since having Oliver I’m a lot more passionate about it.
F is for friends, I love my friends, they’ve got me through some very tough times. And my blog has brought me some pretty good online friends too who I’d love to meet!
G is for Uncle G – my brother. He got me in lots of trouble wjen I was little and like me, grew up cautious of kids but he’s absolutely amazing with Oliver and I have a feeling he will be getting Oliver in to lots of trouble too!
H is for hotels and hospitality. My degree is in International Hospitality Business Management and pre-Oliver hotels were my life. I was a duty manager keen to work my way up. In fact the Deputy Manager just left and it’s strange thinking if I hadn’t had Oliver then I probably would be applying for his job right now.
I is for independence. I used to be really independent; my dad had always taught me independence was important, but then I met R and I somehow lost the ability to look after myself, to the point that people now think I’m a bit of a Princess, when I used to be more like a bit of a bruiser. It’s ok though, at least I know that I can do things for myself.
J is for Jethro, or Leroy Jethro Gibbs of NCIS, the character played by Mark Harman. We love NCIS and the spin offs (NCIS Los Angeles, NCIS New Orleans, Hawaii five-o), in fact they’re the only other thing on series link (except for Mickey Mouse) and we love them so much, especially Gibbs, that Jethro was on our ‘boys names’ list!
K is for Kindle – Since downloading the app on my tablet I now have chance to read again! The book I’m on at the moment is ‘Go Set a Watchman’ by Harper Lee because I loved ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’.
L is for Lincoln. Of course. My beautiful home city. It’s amazing, you should visit, that’s all I need to say.
M is for moving house. Since moving to be with R we have lived in five different places in the space of four years, the longest being 18 months in our last flat before we moved in to the house, where we plan to be for much longer!
N is for the North, or being Northern. I got a lot of stick for the way I talk down here sometimes, because I say bath and grass properly. And have taught Oliver how to say it properly too. Northern win!
O is for Oliver, well, it had to be really didn’t it. He’s basically my entire world!
P is for pineapple because I don’t really eat a lot of fruit, I was a really fussy eater as a kid but now I eat most vegetables but fruit still eludes me; pineapple was the first fruit I actually enjoyed eating, which is apparently quite strange.
Q is for quiet; I’m usually really quiet when I first meet people, I like to observe people to see what kind of personality they have and sometimes sensor myself depending on how well I know someone or what they might find offensive.
R is for Robin – the full name of R! The person I knew I wanted to spend my life with the moment we first kissed in a rum drunk stupor on a bench in the dark in the garden of his final year uni house. I never thought I’d fall in love with a Southerner, but I did. His name also means we buy a lot of Batman stuff. And send robin Christmas cards. We are that predictable.
S is for being a Stay at Home mum (SAHM) which is something I never expected to be. I always planned to go back to work, but sometimes things don’t go to plan (like when you plan to get married, then buy a house and then have babies…)
T is for tachycardia, Atrioventricular Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia to be specific. Something that I’ve had basically my whole life but gave me issues when I was pregnant. I was blue lighted to hospital three times (and told off once for R driving me in) and my record for heart beats per minute is 217! It’s all fixed now and shouldn’t cause me any further issues.
U is for University because it changed my life, it literally saved me! I met some incredible friends, was inspired by some incredible tutors, proved to myself that I can be whoever I want to be and of course, met R who became the love of my life! I will never forget you Sheffield Hallam University!! There’s even a glimpse of me at 17 seconds of this youtube video on the Hallam channel.
V is for vuvuzela because when I was stuck for a word, the amazing LesBeMums offered this suggestion – and it was the BEST word ever. I only wish I had more to offer as a reason. Maybe I should buy one?
W is for the weightloss I just managed to achieve having gone through a phase of ‘accepting that I’m never going to be that thin again’, when really I was in denial and I actually weigh less than when R and I got together.
X is for xenophobia because it’s something that will get you deleted from my facebook page, after I tell you how stupid you are, of course.
Y is for Yellowbelly! That’s what you call people from Lincoln – ok, so I suppose I’m cheating because I’ve already said I’m from there.
Z is for the zoo – I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned how much I love the zoo before? We are members of ZSL and our local zoo is Whipsnade. I like to pretend the annual pass is for Oliver, but really it’s for me.
I’d like to tag the following lovely people:
