Oliver is 2.5 and a few months ago he decided he wanted to wear pants. He had a shaky start to potty training and went back to nappies for a week or so. He basically got himself to a point where he was dry in the day, even usually at nap time.
|Oliver started taking himself to the potty whenever he needed, including pulling down his pants and wiping!|
R started working away a lot and has basically hardly been here through the month of June and has some more away jobs in July and August. At first Oliver was OK in pants but then he decided he wanted to go back to nappies. It’s been weeks now and he’s still wanting nappies. I know he was pretty early anyway, but I know he is capable, but now I’m wondering if capable and ready are the same thing?
Everybody talks about potty training readiness and I’m starting to wonder if what we perceive as ready is actually capable. Potty training is as much an emotional development for them as physical. I am starting to realise that the emotional part is probably more important to Oliver.
I’d love to hear what you think.
