Recently a friend and I decided to start our own ‘fat club’, we decided a day to weigh in and then ruled that we must log all of our intake and exercise on the My Fitness Pal app and make our diaries public so that we can see what each other has had. Our aim is to lose 1lb a week over the 7 weeks between last Wednesday (18th March) and our friend’s wedding on May 9th. We are using whatsapp to encourage each other throughout the day and in the evening too. We really are being a bit of a support group. I received a bit of backlash from a couple of friends who stated they were ‘fat and happy’ – but this is not a vanity issue, this is a health issue. My health is so important with Oliver and I would love to have another baby at some point (more on that at a later date), but my back was so bad when I was pregnant with Oliver that I could barely move some days and I just cannot be doing that again with a toddler to look after.
So I am back on the weightloss wagon. I’m not much of a fan of exercise so it’s always good to hear that it is 80% nutrition and 20% exercise. I’m aiming to up my protein and reduce my carbs, which is a bit of a bugger because I reallllllllly love carbs!! If you want to follow me on My Fitness Pal you can access my profile here.
Starting Weight: 10 st 6.6lb
Target Weight: 10 st
Calorie Goal – 1210
Exercise Goal – Any is better than nothing! Walking as much as possible and some deep cleaning (totally counts as exercise)
I’m meal planning better, including planning lunches which stops me looking at the fridge and cupboards and then just having a sandwich anyway. I’m aiming to increase my protein intake and increase my veggies while reducing my portions of carbs. To stop the cravings I’m drinking plenty of water and have recently discovered herbal and fruit teas which are quite sweet and seem to stop me from eating the contents of our treat basket (yes, we have a whole basket full of chocolate…). I’ve recently vowed to cut out Palm Oil (more on that at a later date too) which is actually really bad for us as well as the environment so that should hopefully help – mainly because I am actually reading the ingredients of the food I’m eating instead of mindlessly stuffing it in my face!
The biggest thing of all is that I have my ‘fat club’ buddy to encourage me. She’s a complete fitness nut but has had a few things going on and needs a kick up the bum herself. I think that having friends who truly encourage you to get to where you want to be are some of the best you can find – I also know if I got too obsessive she’d be straight on at me to chill out and have a biscuit.
