I recently received a free sample of Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration through BzzAgent – I signed up a while ago after reading about the website on a ‘frugal homemaking’ facebook page so was excited to get my first ‘assignment’, when I saw that it was sun cream I instantly thought ‘Great!’, my Dad recently moved to Spain so I’m hoping there will be plenty of sunshine in my life this Summer!

With skin cancer being one of the most common type of cancer in the world it’s super important that we look after our skin – lets not forget for vanity’s sake that the sun ages us too – If you still aren’t convinced then take a look at this skin cancer gallery. By using a good sun cream with an appropriate SPF we can reduce our chances of skin cancer, but finding a sun cream that fits with what you need is important too, if you have sensitive skin or prefer a cream that smells nice over one with that typical ‘sun cream’ smell. It’s definitely worth shopping around to find the one that works best for you.
The full size bottle of Skin Hydration is 180ml and is available in SPF 15, 30 & 50, so a pretty standard size for sun cream and should last a reasonable amount of time (especially if you’re staying in Britain) and is a good size for the family. Within the range there’s also a cream especially designed for the face in SPF 30 so the delicate skin on your face doesn’t need to be covered in the harsher sun creams we use for your body and they all have ‘moisturising ribbons’ providing moisturisation for your skin as well as protection.
The product review
So these ‘moisturising ribbons’ provide skin hydration for twelve hours! Obviously this is no match on your average moisturiser, but I have never had a sun cream that makes my skin feel beautifully soft – until now! My usual moisturiser had ran out so I thought I may as well try it out to see how well it copes on my unbelievably dry skin (I’m actually like a snake!). I was more than pleasantly impressed, my skin felt great and I didn’t feel dry at all throughout the day. The cream soaked in instantly so none of that rubbing and rubbing to get rid of the white streaks on your arms/legs and amazingly it didn’t smell like your average sun cream – it’s really fruity and leaves you smelling divine.
|Oliver downed toys and wanted in on the action too|
They sent a few smaller bottles of the Silk Hydration cream as well as some after sun (something I always kick myself for forgetting to buy), the small bottles are the perfect size to fit in a handbag or rucksack on a day out, so I’ve handed these to some of my nearest and dearest (and kept one for my own handbag too!).
I’ll definitely be thinking about buying the SPF 50 for Oliver’s delicate skin this summer. I’d never really used Hawaiian Tropic before, but it’s definitely a brand that I will be looking out for from now on.
