I had to take a trip up North to see my family and friends, it had been booked for ages, so was already in the pipeline before I found out that I was pregnant. We used this opportunity to let the important people know our news; my mum, my brothers, my best friend.
Trip up North….
We decided to tell one of my brothers over dinner as we are much closer to him and his girlfriend than others in the family, shortly after my brother called my boy gay, his response…“a gay that got your sister pregnant!!”. Just a bit wrong… We told my oldest brother and mum the next afternoon, they all seemed to be happy, my mum even got the christening gowns out that have been collecting dust for about 30 years!!
The next day was when I was seeing my best friend, I’ve known her literally my entire life. I was really cautious because she had a miscarriage a while ago, and when she was in the initial planning stages of her wedding her cousin was going through IVF but had lost the baby. So she would have a pregnant bridesmaid at her wedding after all, just not the one she expected. But I have read an old wives tale that says if you have a pregnant bridesmaid at your wedding you will get pregnant in the first year of marriage, and I know she really wants to have kids, so technically, I’m just doing my part!! She’s also planning on moving to South Africa with her future husband, so we told her she has so stay until after Christmas at least, because it’s due in December!
So, now the most important people in my life all know, it’s just a waiting game for the 12 week scan, to confirm everything and to let everyone else know….I’m 10 weeks today, my scan is on 24th, so two weeks exactly today, and I am literally counting down the days until the scan!!
